Silent Rhythms – creating social change for a world where everyone is equal
What we do to make a difference:
- Promote inclusion in the arts for people with disabilities while using the arts to promote inclusion in society
- Teach adaptive dance classes and create fitness opportunities for people of all abilities
- Bridge different communities together
- Create the groundbreaking dance workshop that is the only dance class specifically for members of the DeafBlind community
- Focus on underrepresented populations within the disability community including girls/women with disabilities, people with DeafBlindness, Deaf youths, Deaf immigrants, people with multiple disabilities, people with psychosocial or intellectual disabilities, and people on the autism spectrum.
- Facilitate training to dance teachers and volunteers on how to adapt their teaching methods to include people with disabilities
- Consult with local arts institutions on designing inclusive and accessible events
- Educate organizations, corporations, and individuals without disabilities how to be inclusive of people with disabilities through accessible meetings/classes, through social media, websites, and in society
